Each year we map the locations of reports made to the Conservation Officer Service through their RAPP (Report All Poachers & Polluters) line. This map helps us to confirm "hot spots" of bear activity in the city of Prince George, so that we know where to target our educational efforts. We also use this map as a valuable tool in our efforts to raise awareness of the human/bear conflict levels in Prince George.

The year 2023 was an incredible year for bear sightings in Prince George. Bears were reported in all areas of the city, from late July through to hibernation. The slideshow below contrasts the reports from 2023 with those from a "regular" year, 2021. The map from 2022 is also included, though it appears sparser due to a difference in how the reports were mapped. You will also see a map that only has red dots. These were the bears "destroyed" by Conservation Officers in 2023 after they were determined to have become food-conditioned to food sources provided by humans.
