We would like to thank the following sponsors:
Canada Summer Jobs
We are able to hire summer students to deliver our public education campaign thanks to federal government funding. |
BC Government
Together For Wildlife Grants These grants have allowed us to purchase more neighbourhood "CAUTION" signs and to make a local trailer court's garbage dumpster more bear-resistant in 2022, and to use paid advertising to reach more city residents in 2023. |
Northern Lights Estate Winery
See below for a detailed explanation of the apple gleaning support & donation program |
We are also grateful for our partners:
Apple Gleaning Support & Donation:
Northern Bear Awareness Society, and volunteers through the Fruit Exchange Program, work with Northern Lights Estate Winery (NLEW) to produce wine from tonnes of otherwise-unwanted apples from local trees that previously attracted bears. By providing a drop-off location for excess fresh apples, NLEW has greatly helped Prince George residents who are making the effort to responsibly manage their bear attractants.
NLEW took this even further, and generously makes a monetary contribution to the Northern Bear Awareness Society for these apples each year, making them the primary sponsor of our educational outreach programs since 2016. In 2022 we used two years' worth of this donation to purchase two bear-resistant garbage cans to replace decorative (but not bear-resistant) garbage cans located in a busy area that is an intersection of human pedestrian traffic and bear a travel corridor.
