The Get Bear Smart Society

 

The Get Bear Smart Society (GBS), formerly known as the J.J. Whistler Bear Society, is a non-profit registered charity formed in early 1995. The Society's mandate is to protect the well-being and lives of bears by establishing a healthier coexistence between people and bears. We believe people and bears can live in harmony!

Bear Aware is an educational program designed to prevent and reduce conflicts between people and bears in our communities.

British Columbia Conservation Foundation

 

A province wide non-advocacy, science based organization, The Foundation works on a wide variety of conservation issues from baseline data collection and habitat restoration to stewardship education. The Foundation spearheads the Bear Awareness program at the provincial level: pursuing funding, developing materials and providing support for community program delivery.

REAPS (Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society)

 

REAPS is a non-profit society working towards waste avoidance. We support waste management solutions by offering school environmental programs and presentations; community workshops on composting, vermicomposting and organic gardening; conducting research; facilitating the exchange of ideas; and providing recycling information services in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

Parsnip Grizzly Bear Population and Habitat Inventory Project

The Parsnip Grizzly Bear Habitat Inventory Project was initiated in August 1997 to address increasing concerns about grizzly bear populations in the central interior of British Columbia.

The Spruce City Wildlife Association, chartered in 1970, is a local non-profit organization made up of families, individuals and corporations in Prince George who are especially concerned in public involvement in local environment and conservation matters.

The Conservation Officer Service is the enforcement program of the Ministry of Environment.s The COS is the lead program for managing wildlife/human conflicts where there is a risk for public safety.
